Girls on the Run 5k
The 5k is the culminating achievement for thousands of girls who have completed our nationally-recognized after-school program. Girls are joined by parents, coaches, friends, and community runners in a fun celebration of health, wellness, and girl power!
All GOTR 5k events are open to the public. You do not need to be a girl to participate. All finishers receive “woohoos!” and the admiration of numerous spectators, but runners are not timed nor are awards given. Everyone who crosses the finish line is a winner.

Runnin’ Down a Dream
Our Runnin’ Down a Dream event is held annually to showcase the impact of Girls on the Run of Austin. This special event features a raffle of the best items in sports, fitness, food, travel and adventure. Funds raised at this event underwrite program scholarships and support program expansion in some of our most under served communities.
These mini, pop-up events offer us an opportunity to go to local businesses and spread the word about this amazing program. We typically set up a table with materials and grow awareness, recruit volunteers and accept donations to sponsor girls’ participation in one of our after-school programs. If you are interested in hosting a Sponsor-a-Girl event at your location, please contact us.
LUNAFEST is a traveling film festival of award-winning short films by, for and about women with stories of reflection, hope and humor. Each year, various organizations bring LUNAFESTs to their communities and raise funds for their local non-profits as well as the main beneficiary, Breast Cancer Fund to over 150 cities and screen in front of 25,000 people.
Girls on the Run of Austin brings LUNAFEST to Austin, Texas in partnership with Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, with 100% of the ticket proceeds benefitting GOTR.
